Support Our Mission

Making Gifts to Maple Knoll Communities

The mission of Maple Knoll Communities, Inc. is to be recognized as a growing provider of outstanding senior communities and services that allow those we serve to thrive in a stimulating, and dignified environment. This will be accomplished through creativity and responsible fiscal stewardship.

Maple Knoll Communities takes great care to provide the most complete array of services and care for older adults across Greater Cincinnati and beyond. In order to be a responsible fiscal steward, we look to the example of our founders who worked to attain financial support from within their own communities. At Maple Knoll Communities our annual fund is a tradition that has raised millions of dollars over more than a century and a half to sustain our efforts through direct connections with neighbors and friends who understand the importance of the mission.

You can designate your gift to benefit Maple Knoll Village, The Knolls of Oxford, Maple Knoll Outreach Services for Seniors, Village Home Health and Hospice, or WMKV 89.3 & 89.9 FM.

If you would like to continue this long tradition, consider a personal way you can offer support. Your gift will make a real difference in the lives of those we serve, and it may benefit you by providing a charitable deduction, tax savings, income for life and the satisfaction of helping those in need.

How Can I Give?

Annual Fund: Make regular gifts either at the same time each year or on a monthly basis in smaller amounts to fit your budget. Annual Fund requests are mailed each year to supporters throughout the TriState. Volunteers help us follow-up requests with phone calls through our Telethon in the Spring. Annual Fund donations are recognized at special events and in our Annual Report donor listing.

Giving Online: Make a secure donation to the area of your choice online.

Outright Gifts: Outright gifts are a quick and easy way to help. These gifts may be made in memory or in honor of loved ones are a popular option for many.

Planned Gifts: Planned gifts can be helpful for achieving financial goals while creating your legacy. Planned gifts could include gifts of securities or stock, naming Maple Knoll in your estate plan or trust, naming Maple Knoll as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy or retirement plan, or gifting property or art. We recommend that you contact your financial or legal professional and then call our office to discuss a planned gift. Our staff has more than fifty years of experience in planning gifts. Planned gifts may also allow for reduced gift and estate taxes, income tax savings, avoidance of capital gains taxes, and more!

Electronic Funds Transfer: Many individuals now choose to have their gifts deducted from a checking or savings account. There is no commitment with this option and you may cancel this at any time.

Living Legacy Society: Maple Knoll Communities has a planned giving society recognizing donors who have included us in their estate plan or who have made cumulative gifts totaling $50,000 in their lifetime. The recognition displays are a lasting testament to the importance of ensuring a solid fiscal future for our organization.

Corporate Partnerships: Your company may match your gift OR become a partner in our mission.

* Matching Gifts: Many companies support Maple Knoll Communities through matching gift programs. Employees submit simple forms to their Human Resources Department and the corporate gift is sent directly to Maple Knoll Communities.

* Sponsorship Agreements: Companies, who enter into Sponsorship Agreements with Maple Knoll Communities, realize benefits ranging from direct acknowledgement, event recognition, publication recognition and more.

Naming Opportunities: Many donors have recognized the need for additions and/or renovations to our facilities. Because these require larger donations a naming opportunity is available. Past naming opportunities include: The Richard Neubauer, M.D. and John Hughes Hospice Center, The Hemsworth Wellness Center, The Dorothy Puccini Library, The Tranquility Garden in memory of Fran Chaloud, and The Gregg Warshaw, M.D. Health Center.

Fiscal Stewardship: Our Annual Report shows progress toward programmatic and physical achievements that make our Continuing Care Retirement Communities among the best in the country.

Year End Giving: IRA Rollover

Information gathered From Kiplinger's and Forbes:

As has been the case for the past several years, donors to charities will have to wait to see whether Congress renews a tax break allowing seniors age 70½ or older to donate money from their IRAs directly to charity. The provision, which allowed tax-free transfers up to $100,000 to count toward the required minimum distribution, expired on January 1. Congress has revived the tax break in the past, and it is expected to do so again this year.

If you'd like to make a charitable rollover, hold off on taking your RMDs for a few more weeks. Be prepared to act fast, though, if it looks as if the provision won't be extended. The penalty for not taking your RMD by December 31 is 50% of the amount you should have withdrawn. If you itemize deductions on your 1040 personal income tax return, you'll come out ahead making gifts this way instead of taking withdrawals from your traditional IRA, paying income taxes, and then making a gift to charity or charities of your choice. It can be a win win for all.

For more information, we suggest you speak with your financial advisor and stay on your toes if you would like to make gifts to your charities of choice in this way before the year end.
